A sign caught my attention.

"Amateur Strip Contest. $1000 prize."

I had to find out what that was about. I entered the Green Rover Club.

In the dimly lit interior, beyond the stage, I was brought to the manager, Crawford. He had a tiny office, exactly as seedy as you would expect.

He looked me over, asking me to turn and bend so he could "assess my potential." Then he handed me a short application on a clip board. The next contest was Saturday night, two days away.

Crawford looked over my application, commenting favorably about my years on the Bridgeport Central High School Cheer Leader Squad and my restaurant experience.

"Cheerleaders have the grace and flexibility, waitresses have the stamina," he noted.

He was most curious about my measurements, especially my 36C breasts.

"Natural?"

"Yes."

"Show me."

I hesitated a moment but immediately realized that I was in his office asking him to let me take everything off for the contest. Although I could doubt his motives, the request was hardly out of place.

I stood up, unbuttoned my blouse and removed it, standing in front of him in my lacy bra and clam diggers. I turned my back while I unhooked the bra. I took it partially off, holding it against me with my hands over the cups as I turned around. I leaned over, dangling, looked him in the eyes, slowly removing my hands and bra until I was uncovered. I shook them in his face as I slowly stood up.

Unexpectedly, the act of exposing myself to him, in his tawdry office, was arousing.

He squeezed me with both hands. "Okay," he said."Natural."

While I was standing there topless, the door opened. A man looked at me, leering.

"Oh, sorry. Didn't know you was busy." He closed the door with a chuckle.

I dressed while Crawford gave me some encouraging advice.

"You're going to do okay on Saturday. You did what you had to do, didn't freeze up or even hesitate much."

I nodded, interested in what he had to say and his Irish accent.

"You look good, great body, fresh face, good attitude. Make sure you have some sexy moves. You have to do more than just get up there and take your clothes off. Even someone as attractive as you."

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"You have to turn them on, make each man in the audience think you're doing it for him."

He suggested I watch the strippers out front to get the idea.

"You'll see who gets the most applause. And tips."

He took me to a spot in the back of the club where I could see the stage.

"Come in Saturday night at nine-thirty, contest starts at ten. You will be on for four minutes. Oh, and bring your music."

I had a moment of panic. "What music?"

"Something you like, something you can dance to. Watch," he pointed to the stage. "Bring a DVD."

The women of the Green Rover did their thing, putting it all out there. I realized I needed some rehearsal before Saturday night.
